Leaders Benefactors and Fellows!

Hope that this summer has been a bit relaxing for you and your families in such busy times!  It sure seems like things never slow down but we are fortunate to be able to be involved in so much.

We have not had a newsletter in a few months and it’s time to brief the organization on what the leadership team has been working hard on.  First off we have brought 9 amazing fellows onboard this year and all had the opportunity to go to LeaderShape this summer.  The comments from some of the fellows I have heard from were just as great as previous years.  LeaderShape sent us a video of some of our students there at the camp and you can view it on our website www.ketteringleaders.com.  Great work by Ben Rohrs, from all the way out west in San Francisco, working with those on the selection committee to choose excellent applicants!  Since the students have been at LeaderShape, Kirsten Billhardt has been very dedicated to seeing through the vision development from the students perspective.

Over the years our benefactors have provided such a strong commitment to the organization with their pledges and several have completed significant contributions.  For this another new project is in the works with Stacy Gardner to award those donors with a thank you…more information to come!

And finally, we have Deese Weekend fast approaching.  It’s an exciting time of the year and the only opportunity we have to get together as an organization.  Sure hope that you will be able to attend and look forward to seeing all there!

To close, I would like to emphasize the need for a new wave of volunteers to take charge of the LEADERS endowment.  We are focusing on the fall elections that will help us put enthusiastic volunteers in the positions up for election.  Please consider helping out with fresh thinking and new energy!

Please help us in congradulating these fine gentelman on their much deserved entrance to Kettering LEADERS! Soon Jordan, Kemoy, Ben, and Tyler will be all placed with a mentor from our Benefactors group and some new great intiatives will be hitting the Kettering Campus. 

Some great past initiatives propelled/assisted by LEADERS fellows: REALservice, Engineers Without Borders, Kettering Entrepreneurs Society, Academic Council, reoganization of convocation, and many more. 

Thank you to all those involved with moving our organization forward! Without you LEADERS wouldn’t be possible. We will be regularly posting information about our current fellows, their visions, and what’s new on campus.

A few of LEADERS Benefactors will be joining Kettering University’s Prep for Success event this weekend. The Prep events are coordinated by the ever talented Dawn Bartlett and her many happy helpers. Thank you to all that have helped put together 2009’s events. 

Prep for Success provides prospective students and their families an intimate experience with the University. Parents enjoy an evening at the Flint Institute of Art with key alumni and administration while future students are provided a great stable of events on campus. 

Prep is hosted multiple times each year and have gained momentum due to their success in highlighting the very best of Kettering. Look back soon for pictures and updates from the event! 

Kettering LEADERS has begun our rigorous selection process and we are very excited about our candidates this year. Without naming names, we have a healthy group of students with a great diversity of backgrounds this year. We are holding phone interviews Tuesday the 17th between our finalist candidates and our alumni selection committee members. To all those that applied and those to be selected soon, we are so very proud of you all. Check back soon for an announcement of our newest fellows.

Every year Kettering LEADERS comes together for a great weekend of bonding, training, and comradery called Deese Weekend. Benefactors, fellows and invited guests are flying in from across the country to meet at Sawmill Creek Resort October 10th through the 12th. Check back for pictures of the weekend and updates about our fellows’ visions. Should be a great time!
